Just the Withers......

Sensory room

Jim booked a new visit before we left the uk at 1 Vanderbilt. It’s called The Summit . You go up 102 floors in a lift but the lift is designed to make you think you are moving faster and higher .. it was incredible. This is not a place to go if flashing lights can trigger a medical condition. Upon reaching the top 4 floors you get various levels of interaction with MILLIONS of mirrors and glass floors , it’s absolutely incredible. Also a sensory room full of lightweight silver ball/sturdy balloons plus mirrors .. I can’t describe how exciting and visually stunning it all was . Plus it was remarkably good value ! I’ll put some photos in extras .
We were on the go from 8am until 8pm our day went like this
1. Deli around the corner for breakfast
2.walk to Times Square to get open top bus ( all prepaid as saves a lot of money)
3.Ground zero memorial ( always beautiful and very moving ) I expected the kids to be a bit bored but all three of them were interested and very respectful and asked a lot of questions.
4. The skyscraper observation floor associated with the museum and memorial… stunning views
5. Walk to the start of Brooklyn Bridge … bear in mind it’s now 34 degrees … walked all the way and it’s an absolute schlep with a 5 year old but she was a trooper !
6. Pizza lunch in a diner in Brooklyn… good value .
7. Walk under manhattan bridge…
8.get subway in Brooklyn and go to 42nd st …to take Ollie to Nike town to look for trainers… pit stop for coffee and slushie drinks
9. 1 Vanderbilt as shown in blip photo.
10. M&M world on the way back to the hotel via a subway shuttle picked up sandwiches from the other deli by our hotel …
11 ….. bed .

As an aside I prefer the NYC underground to the London underground by a long way . It’s cleaner for 1 and more spacious .
