Life in Sunny Dubai

Al Seef

It was tough waking up for work after yesterday's late night. There was lots of chatter about England's win. G read out some of the newspaper reports.

My half-day didn't quite happen. I ended up working in the afternoon. One thing I wanted to do in the evening is a reccy to the hotel I booked. Whilst there, we walked around, and I got some shots of the Creek and general area. I even got an "artistic" one i.e. my blip!

I wasn't ready to go home, so we drove towards G's school. Had I not put in the fuel additive, we would have swung around to see the sunset over the sea, but instead, we had to drive the car at high speed for at least 20 minutes. I opted to go to the EXPO 2020 site. It was dark by the time we got there. It's so quiet with a kid's summer camp being held there. The Al Wasl dome is closed.

We stopped at Dubai Hills Mall mainly to have a walk. It is a good-sized mall to do something like that. I couldn't believe it when we got back to the car at 10 PM to drive home. The dashboard said it was 41 degrees C. Argh.

We got home, and it was a case of TV off/radio on. I got G to listen to a BBC Sounds program called "Inside the Music", which had prominent people in the music industry commenting about how complex and intricate ABBA's music is. It was fascinating. Thank you, rachelwhynot, who told me about it when it first aired on the 50th anniversary of ABBA's Eurovision win.
