Diary of an Edinburgher

New (but not new) stick!

Popped in to a new (to us) cafe this morning, and while they did have the biggest cinnamon buns I’ve ever seen, I don’t think we’ll bother going there again. Not the right vibe.

On the way back I needed a seat, but my intended one is now in the middle of a building site. They’ve been working on a huge project to improve the sewerage/drainage pipes in the area - it’s been a couple of years of bus diversions and blocked roads. And one poor cafe, right beside the noise and mess, has suffered.

But there were seats at the ice cream shop. Not the new one just opened, this one has been there for a while, but has irregular days. However, I had a nice sit down, a very nice (strawberry) ice cream, and Archie had a wee bit.

Watched the tennis in the afternoon. The first ladies’ semi was very well matched, and is the longest ladies’ match ever.

Mid-match I got a text from Christine to alert me that fresh peas were in the grocer’s. I was straight round!! And they were eaten before the set ended. (Archie and JR were out, so I had no witnesses to my unseemly haste).

Here’s my new walking stick. Actually, it’s not new, I’ve had it for years, my wee pal in Jersey sent it years ago for a laugh. It’s been lost in the umbrella stand, but I started my walking stick era when we went to Seville, and used a foldable stick that an old friend (who’s no longer with us) had given me. But I soon realised that I never actually fold it up, even through airport security. I love this stick, it’s ever so slightly shorter than the other one, so more comfortable to use. And it looks jazzy!

Hazel is delighted to be flying into some sunshine tomorrow! Not jealous.
