The second half of life..

What a day!  Just when you think everything is all over rover, awesome surprises jump out of nowhere!

Started with watching England in the quarter finals v Netherlands.   1-0 down after just 7 minutes.  'Here we go' thought I, only to be proved wrong when they scored from a penalty 10 or so minutes later.  Then with time running out and penalties looming, super-sub Ollie Watkins whips one past the goalie to snatch victory with only seconds remaining on the clock!  Wow.  Great game.........so good to see England playing well.

It was cold outside when I poked my head out at half time........still foggy and what looked like a light frost on the ground.  'No need to rush' thought I, so I took my time enjoying what has become a rather nice morning routine.  Headed off about 10.30am to see what the ponds were offering by way of foggy scenes but something caught my eye.........I pulled in to a different entrance to the Kelland Ponds excited by what appeared to be a heavy frost.  Then I saw a couple of photographers already enjoying the place.....then more....  Turned out it was a Brett Woods, a photographer I follow on facebook, leading a winter workshop here in Twizel.  How exciting!  Of course, I had to find and meet the guy........after all, his work, is much of the inspiration behind me wanting to do this trip.  We had a brief chat during which he told me that, from his experience leading workshops here over the years, if the fog hung around and temps stayed low (a high of 0 degrees today apparently haha!) it could be an epic hoar frost tomorrow......or even the next day too!  So this is it - my 'light'/heavy frost is indeed a mild hoar frost, enough to get me excited and ditch my plans of leaving here for another day or two.  Contact made with house sitter re change of plans.  Rest of the day was spent scoping out good locations and simply enjoying being amongst it..............finally!!

Heading to bed shortly and another peek out the door just now tells me the fog is still thick, the air is full of very light moisture drops and even a hint of........snow....??  Could be all on tomorrow.  Aiming for an early start and maybe even rainie joining in the fun :D

Over and out on another great day.
