The second half of life..

Found it!!!

Yay!  I came away on this trip over three weeks ago - I dubbed the trip my 'Hoar Frost Hunt' and today......I found it!

Had a few texts with rainie last night about the developing possibility and when I woke to the same fog, mistiness and cold I was pretty sure it was on.  A quick pic out of the van confirmed things and I let rainie know things were looking good to go......

Check out extras......and compare yesterday's extras tree with today's.  What a difference a day makes.

Was going to head out for sunrise but given the dense fog I thought that may be a bit optimistic.  Still, I was at the frost-front by about 8.15 and it was..........stunning!  And bloody cold too.  Not too many people about first thing though that certainly changed as the day wore on......dozens of people all enjoying a brilliant show from Mother Nature.  The Timaru-crew arrived at some point around midday-ish though it took us some time to track each other down.   Had a bite to eat, a hot drink and a chat in Gerty van before heading out with our cameras again.  Whilst the fog had eased mid morning to give some glimpses of blue sky it had rolled back in by the afternoon so unfortunately not too many white-on-blue images.......more like white on light grey.  Who cares though - as a 'virgin hoar' I was happy to just be out and amongst the most spectacular scenes.

The Timaru-crew left mid-late afternoon in good time to avoid a dark drive home and I continued to cruise round the 'ponds' where I bumped into Mike L & Jackie R.  Funny how these things happen.  I eventually quit and headed back to base just on sundown.  The end of a big day.......14000+ steps......no surprises I'm quite tired tonight.  And the good news.......it's looking like I can do it all again tomorrow!
