The second half of life..

By twigs

A day of two halves

It's beginning to feel a bit like the Monty Python gondoliers tee hee!

Woke to a cold and heavily frosted air but clear, blue skies.  A hint of some high cloud but nothing that spoiled the general air of JASDIP as per yesterday.  Left the camp mid-morning still undecided as to whether I would return to Twizel for just one more - fingers-crossed - frosty morning or whether I would head to Tekapo - someone at Glentanner Park had given me a heads up that I would like to explore.  Anyway, moseyed along the road (there is just the one road in and out of Mt Cook.....about 55kms long) stopping at places here and there including re-visiting the spot I stopped at when I drove in.  Still stunning but not quite as warm.  Similar pic to a few days ago except with this one there's a bonus game you can play........Find Freddy......a bit like Where's Wally but without the red stripes.   I was very surprised to see Freddy (who had a buddy with him, though not in this pic) and he hung around doing his thing for quite a few minutes.

As I neared the south-or-east decision intersection the weather began to change.  At the intersection it was clear that I would have to head to Twizel.....actually, it wasn't clear at all, it was heavily fogged......a real pea-souper.  Decision made.  That didn't stop me continuing my moseying though, and I turned in to have a cuppa and a look round Lake Wardel campsite.  It was clearly a lot colder here than where I'd been - the lake was frozen......either that or the young lad who was walking on it was a very special young man.  Fog and cold temperatures.......sounds promising.......The fog has been incredible.......very thick and constant.....see extra.

Received a text from Rainie who has a friend who lives not too far away and is predicting a hoar frost......fingers crossed.  I do love a bit of local heads-up :)  Between now and a hopefully frosty morning outing though there's a footy match........England v Netherlands.  Early night for me tonight to be sure my batteries are fully charged in anticipation of THE event I've been waiting for.............

PS have you found Freddy yet??
