An ordinary life....

Queen Street Station...

Glasgow

I could have done with a quiet day after our hectic week but we're off galavanting this week then it's the wedding next week, so today was my only chance to get to Glasgow to buy some makeup.

Normally I buy my makeup online (gents feel free to skip this bit :-)) but I wanted new foundation so wanted a proper colour match, so to John Lewis in Buchanan Galleries we went.

We parked on level 5 as there's direct access to John Lewis from there....except now there isn't!  That door has been blocked off. So, into the lift and down to level 3 and along the walkway, which allowed me to take this shot of Queen Street Station.

We headed straight to the Benugo Cafe on the top floor of John Lewis and each enjoyed a lovely New York deli sandwich.  Afterwards D went for a wander in the gents section and I headed downstairs to the cosmetics dept.

I usually wear Clinique foundation as I have sensitive skin and that brand doesn't cause me any problems, but had a notion to try something different, however after perusing other counters, I ended up at the Clinique counter and the very helpful and rather lovely assistant colour tested my skin and helped me choose a new foundation.  Bought one that is slightly longer lasting than the one I usually get, as I wanted slightly heavier and longer coverage for the wedding.  Treated myself to a new lipstick too and got primer and a makeup bag free.  Result as primer was also on my list :D

Also managed to get new hand towels for the downstairs WC.  Been searching for the right colour for ages, so well done J Lewis.

Had a wander round the rest of the shopping mall as it may well be the last chance we get as the whole place is due to be demolished.  I can hardly believe it.  It still seems new to me.  It opened in 1999 and at the time I worked for a company based in Dobbie's Loan and my office window looked down over a landscaped grass/garden area towards the city centre so I watched it being built.

But time doesn't stand still.  My old office has been demolished and the landscaped grass area now has a huge block of student flats built on it!  Soon Buchanan Galleries will follow suit.  And the St Enoch Centre is going too.

Stopped at M&S to buy dinner on the way home.

Managed to finish crocheting the sleeves of my cardigan but it was a struggle.  I've done something to my neck and it's agony.  Can't turn my head to the left and when I move certain ways, the pain travels from behind my left ear, down my neck and across my shoulder.  Must have slept in an awkward position. Oh joy.
