Cherries with Sherry

(8/7/24)

I forgot the mention the small shop we did last night before coming home. G found a fresh chicken and today, after weeks, we had a Sunday roast! It was dee-li-cious! My blip is of the dessert which G rustled up. She said she had compote'd the cherries and then doused them in Harvey's Bristol Cream aka Sherry! I thought that was quite funny. The scoop of vanilla ice cream finished it off nicely.

We went to the evening service. I am amazed at how busy it is on the roads still. At the end of the service, a young lady came to say "Hello" and introduce herself. She didn't need to. I recognised her. It was Thamindri, the daughter of a lady whom I got to know through work back in the 1980s. She was in Dubai for the day, on her way to meetings in Qatar. She works for World Vision. We did a spur-of-the-moment thing and took her out for a meal - to eat as well as catch up.

Wonder of wonders... where did Thamindri want to eat? Chicken Tikka Inn - only our favourite restaurant for the longest time. She was so thrilled to be there, she treated us to dinner! We dropped her at her hotel before we finally got home. It was nearly 11 PM. So much later than we had planned, but we'd had such a great evening!
