Life in Sunny Dubai

Thrilled

(8/7/24)

What a fantastic end to the day this match was (with apologies to any Swiss blippers who might read this).

The day began leisurely. We went to the Ripe Market in Times Square Mall, except we didn't find the Ripe Market. Instead, we watched some music students graduate. [Melodica has a branch there]. One of the things about this mall is its dedication to music, be it instruments (there is a "store" with over 25 baby grand pianos on display) or sound-reproducing devices. I wanted to listen to what the SONOS Ray soundbar sounds like. I (finally) got to hear it as well as the Beam (Gen 2). And then the salesman took us into a dedicated room to listen to Devialet Soundbar. That blew us away, but at nearly £2000, it was well out of my budget. ;)

As you can see from my extra, I was fascinated by these speakers that are taller than me! We tried a new cafe, Attibassi from Bologna, and then came home to chill.

We went to Elements to watch the England/Switzerland Quarter Final match. I'm so glad we went there. It was peaceful and quiet, and to begin with, we were the only people in the restaurant. It filled up as the time got closer to the start of the Holland/Turkey match.

So, the big thing today was England finally overcoming their penalty handicap, getting all five in. We were over the moon. The team is developing a habit of keeping their fans on the edge right up to the last minute. Second even.
