Ospreys and Dragonflies

On our way home after 2 weeks in Cumbria and the Lake District a diversion for a first time visit to Cumbria Wildlife Trust Reserve at Foulshaw Moss.

A great welcome and lots of information from the volunteers at the site.

Although the Osprey Nest is a long distance from the viewing area it is possible to see the action with Binoculars and there is both a telescope and live videos with a 10 second delay -this is very useful to help confirm what you see through optics.

The drama was an adult male not the parent of the 2 chicks in the nest approaching and the alarm all from the Female protecting her large chicks. The have been inspected and ringed this week and both chicks are Male.

After that the Dragonflies including one I had never seen before a white faced Darter ( Extra Photo)
