Awake sometime before morning and I fumbled for my phone to see the Edinburgh results come in. Most of Glasgow and the west had already declared - and blimey between the borders and Perthshire it was a sea of red (and three orange ones, the LibDems). I seriously didn’t see that coming. And I was sure Edinburgh north and leith would stay SNP - Deidre had a 13k majority after all. That’s now a 7k Labour one.
Obviously there’s more volatility these days - and people swapped from the centre to Reform (Farage finally elected) and to the Greens reducing the votes needed to get past the post.
But Rishi did a dignified leaving speech, and Keir an equally serious acceptance one. At least we still manage a civilised transfer of power.

Back to today. A glorious day which ended with us walking over to Modemar, a new fine dining place (a rarity here) overlooking the boats. Top notch so it was. And a couple of cars drove round the harbour sounding their horns and flying flags - Spain through to the semis…
