The Pensioner

By Pensioner

Cloudy Day!

I washed the car. I don’t think I’ve ever treated a hire car to a sponging before but I’d left it under some trees and the dust and bird shit that had accumulated on it was phenomenal. It just made me so unhappy. I’m what the SK would call a fully paid up member of the petite-bourgeoisie.
Earlier I’d chatted to a bona-fide member of the working class, Derrick. Derrick’s mum was German and wanted to called him Erich but his Dad, a proper Geordie, was having none of it. Instead he thought Derrick was near enough. The registrar asked him how he wanted it spelled, telling him there were two alternatives, one being like the derrick at the docks. I’ll have that sez he. (His Dad ever after spelled it Derek however).
Anyway this was Derrick Parker, professional footballer who had played for Barnsley and Oldham and is staying in Paula’s apartment. Really nice bloke so he is.
Taking of footy, I later watched Engerland scrape through against the Swiss before we navigated our way to Neptuno. Half roast chicken and chips. Haif the price of yesterday’s starter. I may include an extra. Not of food, as a photo.
