Cruise day 5 - Unst

This morning the ship anchored offshore from Unst which is the northernmost of the inhabited British Isles. We tendered to shore then walked up and into the Hermaness National Nature Reserve to see the seabirds on the cliffs. The weather forecast had predicted reasonable weather but in reality it was cold and wet, raining almost all day. We were however rewarded with cliffs covered in gannets. My photo is of a fulmar inflight above the nesting gannets.
In the afternoon we visited the Unst Heritage Centre.
Now back onboard, we have left UK waters, passing the wonderfully named Muckle Flugga lighthouse on the way.
I’ve just found out that today is World Seabird Day so pleased that we saw so many.
