A view from Jeanneb

Tea with a view.

We have spent the afternoon in Wharfedale, in and around the lovely village of Burnsall.

As many of you know it was my birthday yesterday (thank you all for your kind wishes), but it is also Chris’s birthday tomorrow so we opted to have a celebratory afternoon tea on the day in between. Many people opt for the Devonshire Arms, just a few miles away near Bolton Abbey, as the primo place on the Devonshire estate, but we favour The Devonshire Fell set on the side of Burnsall Fell just above the village. This is historic as I first came here for my sister’s 21st birthday and then for our wedding night nearly 50 years ago! It was just called The Fell then and it was very different and not under the Devonshire wing but it still had the same magnificent view. We have had one night here since for our 43rd Wedding anniversary in 2018 and today we’ve had a lovely afternoon tea after a walk around Burnsall and a drink in the Red Lion Inn in the village.
Of course I’ve eaten too much and we’ve brought a box home with scones, cream and jam in for later.

Last night we really enjoyed the production of Sondheim’s Company at Bingley Arts Centre. I was unsure how well it would be done but it was excellent with some amazing singing and acting throughout. If you’re in the area I would highly recommend it as it is on till the end of the week.

Just watching the Tour highlights - well done to Mark Cavendish on his historic win.
