Love Blippin’ Books for July
July Prompt: France/Sport
July Tag: LBB19

Apologies for the belated launch of July’s Love Blippin’ Books prompt (#LBB19). I’ve had a hectic couple of days with work and am just catching up with blips a bit now. As it transpired, July 1st was also a slightly awkward day to launch a prompt which had a focus on France…

This month’s prompt comes from the Paris Olympics which are scheduled to start near the end of the month (and I am envious that 20yo is taking himself off there for a week to watch some of the events). July is also the principal month of the Tour de France, which reinforces the France/Sport dual theme.

So, possibilities for your reading choice might include:
- French writers;
- French settings or characters;
- French history or travel;
- Biographies/memoirs of French people;
- Anything Olympic related;
- Anything Tour de France related;
- Possibly other sport related, but try not to drift too far from the convergence with France.

I’ve rounded up a few French related books from my Penguin corner to help with ideas, and the ‘gold medal’ book for this challenge is in extras :-)  See also this long list of French writers.  Gallic Books also publish a lot of contemporary French writing in translation, for example the Claude Izner detective series, of which I have a few in my to read pile.

As usual, engaging with LBB simply involves choosing a book on the theme, sharing a little about it in a blip, and using the tag.

Thanks as always to @squatbetty for dreaming up LBB and for asking me to come up with this month’s prompt.
