The Pensioner

Less than 48 hours to polling day quoth the Beeb. We were fortunate in receiving our postal ballots before we left. Seems many back home haven’t received them yet. After a spell of governance by that utter chancer Johnson, followed by the mad eyed chaos of Truss, old Rishi has tried to steady the buffs. He’s a smart guy, and a technocrat, but he somehow hasn’t got a sure political touch. Of course it hasn’t helped that he has a crowd of backstabbers, well, at his back actually. But from standing in the downpour announcing the date, to scuttling home from D-Day, drinking a pint of water in a dimpled glass in a pub photoshoot - he’s been an easily mocked character. Even two days ago he brought it down on himself by tweeting, “You name it, Labour will tax it.” to which the top reply came, “your wife?”
Kaboom.
Anyway, there’s a few reflections for posterity. Here, the weather seems to be holding, Huck Finn is finished and my new teacup is just perfect, thanks for asking.
