An October Day in July

It might officially been 14° this morning but it certainly didn’t feel it on the beach as the wind whistled round our bared bodies. Had the sun which had shone early in the morning stayed shining it might have felt warmer, but it was grey, cheerless and chilly.

Daughter #1 was suitably attired in her stinger suit to protect her from any jellyfish but   with the valour of the stupid I declined any protection so it was serendipitous that I should be the one stung by a jellyfish that saw me coming. I saw it too and batted it away, but too late. However, for whatever reason, I didn’t  have a prolonged reaction, nothing like the jelly fish sting last year in Stromness which lasted for 12 hours so I didn’t feel the need to take any antihistamine which of course was in Daughter#1’s first aid kit.

There was the usual wait for the bus which gave me the opportunity to blip this window at the end of a long lane - a rural view at the seaside. Then it was off to MacDonald’s for a bacon butty and a hot drink. Job done.
