Soggy Sunday

Wall to wall wetness today, an extremely soggy Sunday. With nothing to lose, I waded along to the slip at 10am imagining there might only be two of us eager to commit but I was wrong, 15 hardy souls including one man braved the weather. It was choppy with a lot of spray but that would be a poor excuse for lack of progress on perfecting the handstands, far less the somersaults

Later, after warming up and mistakingly thinking the rain had stopped, I went out to buy milk and discovered I was wrong.
There was a bus load of day tourists from John O’Groats wandering the Street in a fairly drookit state. With most shops shut I almost felt sorry for them as I jumped puddles and tried to avoid being splashed by passing cars. I also discovered my raincoat is not waterproofed against Orkney rain.

I’m trying to avoid cabin fever by watching the Tour. I’m feeling exhausted climbing all those hills!

My blip is of the huge giant floating crane outside my window all lit up during the hours of darkness. Also lit up in the far distance is the Flotta oil terminal.
