Life is a Challenge!

A SEAT WITH A VIEW

We had a good service at Church - the sermon was great and the worship was excellent.  We even learned a new song, entitled "Covenant of Grace",which I must listen to again.

After the service, we had coffee and chat - and for some, this included biscuits!   Rob, one of our friends, introduced me to two of his friends, both of whom work in a care home, where many of the residents have dementia.  I have offered to go and sing some of the old hymns with them - as even if people have dementia, they can often remember all the words to hymns they sang many years ago.  Another exciting adventure to look forward to.

Then we went out for a drive, something we haven’t done for a while after Church, but not before chatting to some of young friends who had put their cuddly toys on a seat in the foyer.  I am always on the lookout for new members of the Silly Saturday Gang, but as soon as I started looking at them, their owners came up and claimed them!  I did, however, manage to take a photograph, and discovered that they were called Tiggy, the tiger, Timmy, the polar bear and Pig Pug, the pig and promised the three girls that they would be part of my Blip today!  I also suggested they might like to come over to us one Saturday afternoon and have a tea party with some of their toys and my Silly Saturday Gang - and have now arranged this for next week, so that will be fun!

The top shot in my collage is Mr. HCB looking out over Burford, Carterton, Brize Norton and Faringdon, sitting under a small leaf lime tree, the flowers of which had an amazing perfume.  Whilst sitting there, we witnessed two red kites flying around and being dive-bombed by crows and gulls.  It was an amazing sight and we could hear the red kites calling to one another, another first for both of us.

Also, interestingly, in the hedge, and you can see it to the left of where Mr. HCB is sitting, was a small piece from a plank of wood.  Chris, our preacher this morning, had mentioned the story of looking at a speck of sawdust in someone’s eye, whilst paying no attention to the plank of wood in their own eye, so an apt find today!  Actually, quite true for me at the moment, as I often feel I have a large piece of something in my right eye!  But thankfully, it is getting better each day.

It was interesting too, to see the milestone showing how many miles from London - 71,  Faringdon - 1 and Highworth - 5.

The extra shows the beautiful flowers on the lime tree, which as I said, had a wonderful perfume, some lovely wild flowers at Coleshill, where we stopped to have a cup of coffee and one of a number of  hollyhocks we saw by the side of the road, something you don’t expect to see in the countryside - as it’s not actually a wild flower.

It wasn’t too hot, so all in all a great morning and afternoon.  Mr. HCB has now settled down to watch England v. Slovakia in the European Cup - and then for the next three days he will be going to Cheltenham to watch cricket - so I’m looking forward to three days on my own.  He is not happy though, as two England players have already been shown a Yellow Card!  I can see this isn’t going to end well and there may well be tears before bedtime!

Hope you all have a great week - I will try and do some commenting where I can.  M xx
