Shenandoah Valley

A view across the river valley from Shenandoah National Park. We’d missed visiting before but that’s now sorted as today we drove the Skyline Drive. Actually we only managed about 70 miles but the other 35 would’ve taken too long for us still jet-lagged travellers so instead we bailed out at the third entry gate and Tom meandering country roads to reach Staunton at a decent hour.
Our first stop of the day was Frederick though. It was a surprisingly nice place to stroll around although a bit too twee for my taste and, apart from cafés, nothing was going to open until after eleven by which time we were back on the road and heading to Shenandoah.
