Blowin’ in the Wind
I stopped off at the caravan on my journey south yesterday. It was 25°c when I arrived, and much warmer in the caravan (windows and doors were opened). I woke up this morning to torrential rain, and much cooler temperatures.
Before heading home today I spent a couple of hours at Foulshaw Moss. My expectations were low when I arrived at the reserve, not just the cool temperature but it was blowing a gale. The main image, which is cotton grass blowing in the wind, is representative.
However, I had a much better morning than I anticipated. Not much flying around - it was far too windy. But lizards, azure and large red damselflies, an emerald damselfly (a first for me), spotted long horn beetles on meadowsweet, a large skipper butterfly at rest, and an osprey perched on a dead tree (extras). A lift to the spirits before my journey home.
