Tin Tabernacles of 2024 #12

Dalswinton Barony Church through the trees. I've added an extra of the front of the church but I liked it nestled in the woods with the stormy looking sky. It's a very good example of a tin tabernacle/iron church. There's another extra of two tin village halls - Closeburn (not particularly interesting) and Carrutherstown (much better in my view).

We left home before 09:00. Our first stop was at the girls' house so that Cameraman could go to the five year old's nursery graduation. There was only one spare ticket and, as I'd been at the school yesterday, I took Flora for a walk instead. Our granddaughter apparently did really well.

We then left for the far south west. I've been to Dumfries and Galloway for work and a couple of holidays when the children were young but I don't really know the area well. It's always so green and lush. Saw a few Belties in the fields. Great coffee in Thornhill and a mobile picnic while we looked at tin buildings.

We are staying in Annan tonight. I'm not sure I've ever been here before. A friend's mum was Dux of Annan Academy in about 1930 and I imagine the town looked different and possibly more prosperous then. However we will be comfortable enough in our dog friendly B&B with another adventure tomorrow.
