Day at a Time

The icing on the cake

I said a couple of weeks ago that we had the bedroom redecorated. It can be a cold room so I thought my choice of a vaguely blue shade was risky. I think it's worked well though - restful rather than stark. In the winter we use the shutters but in the summer I like to have light and air so a blind is all we need. This one was fitted yesterday. The one it replaced had originally been used for a different window and was about 9-12" too short. It mostly did the trick but it looked ridiculous. I got used to it of course but it's a pleasure to have one that fits. The old one has gone onto our local WhatsApp group and I hope someone will want it.

The blue room might look restful but there's next to no sleep here. My head is buzzing with last night's meeting and a few extraneous considerations which I've needlessly given myself. Very silly.

I have a zoom meeting at 09:00 with the trustee subgroup - good to go over last night's discussions. The five year old will be here at 07:00 for her last term-time Wednesday before she starts school. I'll make sure to enjoy the traditional cuddles with stories before we have our showers.

She and I will get the 12:00 train and by 1pm we will be meeting the nine year old as she starts her summer holiday. I'll take the girls for a celebratory ice cream then we'll go back to their house and I'll stay till their mum and  dad finish work. I then need to hurry home to pack a bag for a couple of nights away.

As usual the weather seems to have broken just as the school summer holiday starts. I feel sure the girls will have a really good break though and doubtless their teachers will be ready for very well deserved time off.
