The Pensioner

Hot hot hot

My word it’s warm. 24ºc according to the thermometer outside the back door. I worked away in the heat, giving the new ground a strim, watering the tatties, and planting out the SK’s surplus trailing lobelia. When I’m old I fancy I’ll toil away with a loose shirt and wide brimmed straw hat in the summer heat as if I was in a painting by Pissarro. I better keep the strimmer out of sight, of course.
Earlier, I’d met up with J_S for a coffee at Cairngorm for one of our regular catch-ups. Then we strolled on to Waterstone’s. I remember the lad when he was a great PJ Harvey fan - I mentioned her as one of the few Glastonbury acts that would appeal to people that liked music other than pop or shouty rappy stuff. Yes, proper music. Man, was he scathing about PJ! Totally fallen out of love with her. It didn’t take long to find out why. Another one, attending T.Swift at Murrayfield solely to accompany his daughter, who seems to have fallen under the cult’s spell. Beware, people, beware!
