Edinburgh Experiences a Heatwave
On my walk to the shops this morning I was upset to see the arrival of enormous lorries and off loaders disgorging huge tractors and all the rest of the paraphernalia needed to turn the lovely George Square gardens and surrounding university area in the Underbelly Festival Theme Park. The gardens were still open to the public today but shortly, most of the area will be barricaded off until late September when the students return.
Having occasion to collect something from the centre of town early this afternoon, I found Princes Street Gardens a sea of bodies in varying degrees of undress. It is certainly an amazing green space to have in the centre of a city where in the unlikely event of a heat wave like today , people can stop, sit and lick an ice cream taking in a wonderful view.
I’m so glad that my early start yesterday morning meant I went to bed in the evening before the football result with Hungary was decided. Well, at least the Tartan Army had a great time partying- forget the footie . We are a resilient nation!
