Life in a Northern Town

Rhine Falls

Today was forecast be be very hot so we took the train to Rhine Falls, less than an hour from
Zurich - it was a good decision. Most of the viewing areas of the falls are in shade, plus the spray kept us cool - and wow, the falls really were in full flow - about 50% more water coming over than the usual summer average.

We walked on the various viewing platforms - some of which are alarmingly close to the cascading water - then took a short boat trip near the falls. It was all very impressive and fabulously well organised. So glad we went. Some extras in an attempt to convey the sheer force of the falls.

This afternoon we’ve been to the FIFA museum and on a boat trip around the lake - plus travelled to these places via trams, and because of our Swiss Rail Passes we’ve only had to pay for the viewing platform and the boat trip at the falls - 13 francs each for a full day’s entertainment.

Tomorrow we hit the chocolate factory then it’s back home to reality. It’s been absolutely amazing, Switzerland has put on quite a show.
