Europa Operanda

We had a trouble-free drive back from Le Mans today arriving at the Shuttle terminal in Calais in such good time that we thought we might get on an earlier train. However, we were greeted with a notice (see extra photo) saying that departures were delayed by 2 hours. Apparently a train had broken down in the tunnel earlier in the day. In the end we got away after 90 minutes or so, which wasn't too bad. On the plus side, if rather frustratingly, today saw the best weather - warm and sunny - of the whole long weekend. Still, it was another great trip enhanced by dining on Friday evening with our companion party from England (who were at the camp site we always used to go to) and our Dutch friends from the same camp site,  at our favourite loxal restaurant. And then last night, minus the Dutch guys who have no interest in football, we all watched the England  v Serbia game at the new place we have found at Sille-plage, near our gite. Of course, within a few minutes of driving back in England we had to  negotiate more potholes than we saw in the whole of the time we were driving in France.  The main photo is of a sculpture outside the Shuttle terminal - Europa Operanda - celebrating the spirit of cooperation between the nations that brought about the building of the Channel Tunnel. Ah, those were the days....
