A helping hand

It's not easy to walk down even a small flight of stairs if you're wearing stilts. Fortunately, someone was there to lend a helping  hand to  this stilt walker who, with three companions, was part of the entertainment at the street party in Carey Street for this year's London Legal Walk. It was still very warm when I set off from the Law Society building at around 5.30pm. I chose one of the 10km river routes as I thought it would be less crowded than the Parks route and there might just be a bit of a breeze from the Thames. I got the former consideration right but not the former. The extra shows the Tower of London and Tower Bridge - the bridge was raised just after I crossed although I couldn't see any tall ships heading towards it.

After driving back from Le Mans the previous day I was very, very tired when I hobbled back into the Law Society. 21,000 steps in all today. To date our team has raised £13.8k towards our target this year of £15k. We share the money we raise 50:50 with the London Legal Support Trust who organise the annual Walk. The LLST helps to fund organisations that offer free legal advice  and support to people who.may not qualify for legal aid or otherwise cannot afford to access legal services. The Rolls Building Art and Education Trust provides students from schools and colleges serving disadvantaged communities with the opportunity to reenact real cases in a courtroom at the Rolls Building, the home of the Business and Property Courts of England and Wales. The RBAET team is one of the best fundraisers at the Walk but the scale of the event can be guaged by the Lady Chief Justice's announcement at the end of the Walk that over £1 million has been raised this year.
