Groyne4

There is much to consider when choosing a day and a time for swimming especially if it has to be done by public transport from a distance. Today the stars were aligned, a little sunshine and no rain, a gentle west wind, no NE wind producing big waves, and a reasonably high tide at a convenient hour. It helps if there are no jellyfish to freak out Daughter #1 and the water looks clean.
All the criteria were met as we waded in at Groyne 4 at 8:35 am precisely. It was so enjoyable to have 20 minutes resetting our lives.

Number 4 groyne is the wonky groyne that has now got so wonky that the restoration team have arrived to replace most of it. Apparently the estimated time is 17 weeks although that may include fixing any damaged parts of other groynes.
The uprights, we were told, are buried 4feet beneath the sand and will require heavy machinery to pull them free. We left as bolts were being hammered out and circular saws were in action on the wood.

It’s been a warm day and sitting on the patio has figured largely in my afternoon. I thought you should know that after all my recent whingeing about the autumnal weather.
