Happy Father’s Day

We were so tired from being in the sun all day that we fell asleep not long after dinner. We walked to the restaurant last night to avoid having to pay an additional parking fee at the hotel. The folks we met on the route were interesting to say the least. Anyway, we both woke up very early, showered and were at breakfast before 7:00 am. We attended Mass at the Immaculate Conception of Mary church in Towson, Md. It was a beautiful church. Parker’s first game was at 10:00; we were there with time to spare. Renee found a completely shaded area that had enough room for the whole team and their families to spread out. We had a gentle breeze all day which made conditions better than yesterday. The second game was at 1:00 pm so we had lunch in between games. The boys won both games today. We were 4-1 for the weekend. This was a showcase tournament. College scouts come to evaluate the players. I was impressed at how many fathers happily gave up their weekend to sit in the sun and watch the games. Listening to the conversations between parents and the children warmed my heart; so much love and mutual respect. Parker’s circle of friends act like siblings and their parents welcome each boy into their homes. The stories they told gave me hope that these kids will be good citizens as adults. All hubby wanted for Father’s Day was a thick chocolate milkshake. I was happy to oblige. We took quite the scenic route home, not caring when we missed our turn several times, just enjoying the ride down new roads. I’m hoping you had an uplifting weekend. Stay safe.
