Calm Before the Storm
As usual, we were awake before 6:00 so we started our day. I prepared a roast for the crock pot. Our microwave started beeping occasionally and none of the settings worked. Hubby read the owners’ manual but that issue was not addressed. We turned everything off and he reset the electrical service but that didn’t help so he added that problem to the list for the maintenance check. While we were reading outside, “a neighbor” dropped by and told us electrical service was out on base - aha, that explains the problem. The crock pot was cold as well. Thankfully, we have battery back up for the refrigerator. Hubby headed to find us lunch because we could not open the refrigerator. He brought back luscious homemade chicken sandwiches, glad we lost power. There are not a lot of blip subjects here but I liked the perspective of the one I chose before our storm arrived. We put away anything outside that could be damaged by wind and rain. And we had plenty of both plus a bit of hail. Our power was restored right before the rain began so we could turn on the a/c. After reading awhile, we both took a nap. Hubby is still asleep. We’ll have another quiet evening. Our son, DIL and Parker just got to town. They took cover at a shopping mall during the storm. Millie has found a few hideouts so she is enjoying the trip so far. Sending wishes for a fun weekend. Thanks for visiting. “We were like silent, clear skies. Beautifully unpredictable. But like any clear sky, we didn't know that we were just the calm before the storm.”
