Vintage choices

I am definitely not a petrol head, but I thought it would be good to show support for the Tain Vintage Car Rally, taking place today on the Links. Poor old N&A, having enjoyed a late night with us and other friends, were on duty from 8.30am, so they experienced a rude awakening very early on. We were barely out of bed by 8.30am, and I struggled to get myself ready to go swimming by 9.30am. I was given a lift by L, so that made it easier not to just give in and go back to bed....

It was a lovely fresh swim. The pictures came out terribly grey, and didn't really capture the spirit of the swim, which was very positive. It was great to see some old friends I hadn't seen for a while, as well as to meet a new swimmer who is joining the group. Shandwick was slightly less rainy than Tain at that point in the day, so our stuff didn't get too wet on the beach.

After showering and having a bite of lunch, I walked down to the Links which was probably a bit busier (and definitely muddier) than when A&N were on duty earlier, and I've decided to blip this Landrover, as of all the cars on show it's the one that Mr A would be most likely to hotwire and steal away. It was a magnificent beast, with a new engine, apparently. Whilst down at the Links I visited the Seafield Game stall, and picked up some free range meat for the freezer. I wasn't grabbed by any of the other stalls.

Although I've had a lazy afternoon since then, I've been feeling a bit rough, which isn't so much to do with the drinking yesterday evening as with the loss of sleep and the vestigial cold I've been fighting off since Friday. I'll treat myself to an early night.

Mr A cooked up a storm of lamb roast for dinner, which was greatly appreciated. Now, the sun has come out, which is really irritating after a very wet weekend.
