Simon Dann finishing his first customer's haircut

I booked a 9.30am appointment for a haircut with Simon at his barber shop in the centre of town. Ever since meeting him he is the only barber I like going to, and even then it is rather occasionally. He always laughs at the condition of my locks when I return every few months as I tend to snip away at them myself in between his excellent cuts.

I met Simon when I inquisitively blipped a shop front which was being redeveloped many years ago, by him as it happens. The story is recounted in my Blip of the time, on 4th Feb 2011.

Simon’s business is now very well established and he has opened another branch about ten miles away in Cirencester. But after Covid’s impact and various lock-downs, he has moved to an booking system which means he employs less staff, but there is no waiting time, which previously was a bit annoying. It also meant I couldn’t guarantee having my hair cut by the boss, which I always preferred. This morning I arrived a few minutes early and was the only customer waiting until a young woman arrived to have her hair cut by the apprentice, whom you can see here to the left of Simon. I thought I’d try a wide angle view using my phone, as another test of its capabilities.
