A female blackbird making a rare appearance

As our garden has become rather overgrown this year, there is little grass for the blackbirds to potter about on, or digging for worms under leaves etc. At other times they like to ascend to high vantage points and sing. With the full leaf cover on trees and shrubs the mass of garden birds are loving the cover and tend to predominate.

So it is re=are for me to see the blackbirds out in the open. But this one did venture towards the sunflower feeder, which I have seen them try to eat from with great difficulty. their claws are not designed for such landing on such feeders' small metal perches. They tend to flap rapidly trying to hover as they peck at the seeds inside the small apertures.

I took this opportunity to record the female blackbird after it alighted on the thus tree's dead branch, on a different limb to where the woodpecker was perched in yesterday's blip.
