Time with Bella

Because of the play, the band, and various commitments, I haven't had time with Bella since April 26th. That’s the longest we’ve spent without time together since she was an infant. (There was the Covid lockdown of course, but we were constantly on Facetime for those months.) We were happy to have a Baba Day today. She came at 1 and stayed till 9, and we packed the time.

I finally was able to ask her what she learned from working onstage, and she told me without hesitation that she learned she likes being backstage much better than being onstage, and it’s her intention not to be onstage ever again. She likes designing theatre sets, and she would love to work in film, maybe in set design or directing, but not acting. Not even in a chorus.

She played my piano surprisingly well, although she has never had a piano lesson. She did have violin lessons for six years, flute for a year, and now saxophone for a year, so she has no trouble reading music. She sorted through our activity cards and decided she wanted to have food at home, do a photo shoot (which involved a trip to the toy store and more theatrical set-building), eat at the Indian restaurant, watch a movie on Netflix, and play cards. We did it all.

I made the main photo while she was playing the piano and the first extra while she was building a set model, and after some instruction on the use of my new lens, she made the next two extras, showing the little characters we bought at the toy store in  an indoor (swimming pool) set and in an outdoor (mountain climbing) set.

There is no news (which is good news) from Margie. Seth and Cristina weren’t worried about Bella spending time with me, but I’m going to be cautious and not see Sue tomorrow. If I have no symptoms by Sunday morning and test negative, I will go spend Sunday with Sue.
