Soak Up The Sun

It would have been nice to see a bit of sun at the Sheryl Crow concert last night. Unfortunately - as it was an outdoor concert - we had rain! Luckily, it had all but stopped by the time Sheryl came on, but we watched the support act from under the very limited shelter available around the perimeter of Piece Hall. We also purchased two flimsy ponchos at an extortionate price just in case the rain didn’t stop in time! The support was Dea Matrona, who we saw last year supporting Kris Barras at The Tivoli in Buckley. They’ve definitely gone up in the world since then and deservedly so, as I thought their playing last night had definitely gone up a level or two since we last saw them.
Sheryl was excellent. Two hours of greatest hits plus a couple off the new album. She’s still got the voice and her band were very tight, with some great guitar playing. Our friends very kindly offered us a taxi service to and from the venue which saved a lot of hassle and worked perfectly. They even gave us a cup of tea and a biscuit before sending us on our way back to our hotel.
The late finish though meant we slept in this morning and only just made it down in time for breakfast.
Today we have been to the Yorkshire Sculpture Park before heading into Manchester to see Peter Kay. It’ll be another late one, so more about those activities tomorrow.
