All You Need Is Love

We went to see Peter Kay at the AO Arena in Manchester last night. I’d been trying for a while to get tickets - the original release sold out almost immediately despite him committing to 110 dates, including a London residency and over 40 dates in his home town of Manchester!
But I kept checking on Ticketmaster, just in case, and was delighted to suddenly find two really good rows had become available at the front of one of the blocks near the stage. I can only surmise that it might have been a corporate booking that was not taken up but, whatever it was, I snapped up two tickets straight away. As did the people sitting around us who all told a similar story. In any event, apart from one or two empty seats, the Arena was full. Not too shabby selling out a 21,000 capacity venue for what is just one of many appearances there over the life of the tour.
Photography and filming were strictly forbidden - fair enough, because the tour still has a year to go and he naturally doesn’t want people getting wind of what happens in the show. So I’m not going to say anything more, other than it was a very entertaining evening and I haven’t laughed so much for ages.
As I can only show you the empty stage therefore, I’ve inset a photo of one of the pieces at the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, which we had visited before heading to Manchester. Well worth a visit - basically an old country estate with lots of paths, some woods and a lake. However, as you walk around you come across superb sculptures by some top artists - Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth and Damien Hirst to name but three. We didn’t have time to see it all so will definitely going back next time we are over that way.
It was pretty late by the time we eventually arrived home, so I’ve been very grateful for a quiet and relaxing day today. Though I did force myself to go to the gym in an attempt to work off some of the junk food consumed over the past three days!
