Grumpy Old Man

Blue skies and red leaves

A beautiful crescent moon last night, but a dull and cloudy morning today. I did sit outside for a while, but the sun was struggling to get through the clouds.

After lunch I set about getting ready to fill the pots and planters around the door and deck with new bedding plants, but first removed all the polyanthus that I'd planted in the spring. They were superb plants with red-flushed leaves and a range of muted colours, so I potted the lot and will keep them for next year.

Then I realised that I'd used up all my compost, so the new planting will have to wait until tomorrow after a visit to the garden centre.

The sky was blue by this time, with gorgeous sunshine, so at the risk of encouraging the rain (!) I sat out with a book and roasted. A cold peppermint and ice cream milk shake helped to cool me down!

Hoping to include the blue sky in my Blip, I tried a few options but finally went for a picture of Pieris japonica 'Forest Flame' against the sky.

Quote of the Day: 'I never get tired of the blue sky.'- Vincent Van Gogh.
