Sun Sea and Jellyfish
I wasn’t expecting that……. a lovely sunny day. No matter that it felt like 5° as I plodded down to Princes Street to catch the #26 bus and there was a stiff west wind blowing, because sunshine raises the mood and the wind was a westerly not a northerly. God was in his Heaven and all was right with the world, as the saying goes.
With a mention of jelly fish on the beach, Daughter #1 had come prepared with a stinger suit to wear but it was unfortunate that being so paranoid about getting stung, the first thing she saw as we made our way into the water was a large dead purple jelly fish. I saw none in the water nor did she so equanimity was restored quite quickly. I am wary of jellies if there are large tangles of seaweed for them to hide in, but I haven’t seen much seaweed where we swim at Porty but there is in Orkney.
The wind seemed to strengthen and hinder us as we fought to dress, but we managed to get the job done in time to catch the bus and for me to have a quick transfer in Princes Street. It meant I could have a shower, wash all the sand out of my swimming gear and be sitting down at 10am with the Merry Widows for our Sunday coffee.
I may have dozed off during the lunch time news for a second or two ……….
