Up North...

..and it is cold!

It is now cottage season; I am quite late getting up here for my allotted time period - my first of the season - so I will have only 4 days before the schedule switches to my sister's family, but it was worth making the trip.

My focus has been elsewhere this past week, and then came the sad news that the husband of a friend had passed away and the funeral was yesterday. Heading north to the cottage fell down a few notches on my list of priorities...But I am here now and happily getting settled in for another summer on the bay,..

My drive north went well and I arrived with plenty of time to spare, so before meeting my boat taxi, I went down the harbour to take a walk (doctor's orders) as walking on our tiny island is nigh onto impossible...unless it is up and down the ramp to the dock! It is always interesting to see what is happening down at the town dock...and more so today as I met a friendly stranger on the dock and had a lovely visit...a fellow cottager, also a retired teacher, taking photos of his grandson after getting off one of the sight-seeing planes. It is amazing what a small world it is - our conversation kept hitting on places, people and teaching experiences we had in common! Tomorrow I will be chatting by phone with a colleague from my TV Ontario days and am interested to see if he will remember this fellow who remembers him from their teaching days!

What a drastic change in the weather! This week I had the AC on at home. Yesterday the rains came; today the cold. Luckily I brought clothes to leave here for the entire summer-fall season and they included a hoodie, a fleece, wind jacket, raincoat and some wool socks! So far, I have used them all!

And I have the heat turned on....
