Folding

With some printing required for a meeting in London tomorrow and keen to see how Day Two of the acquisition would play out I headed into the office for a few hours.

I would be lying if I said that a little bit of me wasn’t hoping for at least a little chaos. You know, papers strewn everywhere, somewhere crying and gently rocking in the corner, a few higher-ups with ties at half mast scratching their heads as they stood around a burning printer, that kind of thing, but I was slightly disappointed to find that everything seemed much calmer today and the printer in particular was in fine health and delivered me of the double sided coloured prints I required.

Returning home, I prepped for the following day’s meeting and had an equally uneventful afternoon.

The biggest deal of the day however was what turned out to be m’boy’s final football match with the present team. The manager has made the call (the right one) to fold the team as our player numbers, ages and abilities are just not where they need to be going into an 11-aside format next year. The lads had known this was coming and so gave their all in the final match - even taking the lead for a good part of it - but unfortunately were beaten 2-1. In a sign of how far they have come, this was a team they lost to around 15-0 earlier in the season.

There were a lot of tears at the end of the match, but the manager gave a great speech and I really hope the boys took at least some of it in.

Let’s see what next season brings!
