A lovely evening with our friends. Friday June 7th

Our last evening here in Mullion.
We met up with our friends who now live down here in Porthleven.
A lovely meal at The Halzephron pub, in Gunwalloe, which is really old and has bags of character and history.

Lots of chat and catching up over dinner, which was excellent, alongside a group of men, who were obviously regulars, singing shanties in the bar.
On the table next to us sat a young couple. Eventually we were all having a conversation roaming over loads of different things.
They were from Appleby near the Lake District, and told us that the whole small town closes once a year, including businesses, and have to put up things to protect their properties and shops,…….the reason: The Appleby Horse Fair, where gypsies and travellers all descend and park all their stock, vans and caravans everywhere, after which there has to be a huge clean up operation which has to be paid for by the local authority, meaning their Council taxes are really high compared to other parts of the Lake District area.,
It was a lovely evening, and we left to return to our holiday bungalow, whilst they returned to Porthleven.
Most of our stuff is packed.
We have to vacate the property by 10:00am tomorrow.
We will then drive up to Taunton for an overnight stop this time,
We’ll be back in October!
