Shredder

What a day it has been today!

I was invited to join a road trip to a mountain biking venue about two and a half hours from home at a place called Kirroughtree. One of the world-class 7stanes mountain biking venues no less. With a brilliant excuse to give Big Blue a good run out and knowing that I would be in good (and experienced) company, I jumped at the chance.

Whilst I have always enjoyed riding a bike, I have never actually been a proper mountain biking trail, so my excitement was mixed with a little apprehension and a desire to not injure myself too severely. I needn’t have worried as the route was the perfect fit for my ability and after a little hard work to get up the hill on a forest-type track, we were soon whizzing back down and through the trees whooping and hollering as we rounded the berms and rolled over the rollers. I may have even been accused of “shredding”…….yo.

I can neither confirm nor deny that I was having so much fun, I may have let a little “wheeeeeee” escape my mouth.

After a brilliant few hours riding, we made our way back a little way to Kirkcudbright (pronounced “Cur-coo-bree” apparently) where my thoughts naturally turned to fellow blipper sheilwill (who I believe lives nearby and I wondered what she was up to) and if I had been better organised, I would have let her know that I was in the area.

We sat on the green adjacent to the harbour drinking a couple of welcome cold beers, eating fish n chips from the Chinese takeaway and marvelling at how a deep fried mars bar shouldn’t work, but actually does and tastes a bit like churros and chocolate.

Amazing day and I think I have a new hobby to get hooked on.

Hopefully things won’t get too gnarly……….man.
