This is the day

Exuberant youngsters

I’ve noticed that the juvenile birds are appearing at the bird feeders much earlier in the morning than their parents. This morning there were five or six juvenile starlings darting back and forth over the fat ball feeder, swooping down and bickering amongst each other, being calmly observed by a well-behaved wren.

After they’d gone, several young blue tits replaced them for a while. The parents of all these birds obviously had a bit of a well-deserved lie in because they appeared quite a bit later on.
