Poldhu Cove. The Lizard. SW Cornwall.

After catching up with our friend Cath this morning in Porthleven, we then decided to have some lunch there at the pub by the harbour,
I am now so thankful finally to be eating normally once again.
It has taken me the best part of a week.
I haven’t been able to do the longer walks along the sections of the SW coast path this time, due to lack of energy, but encouraged Stephen to go, and he has enjoyed it.
After lunch we went to Poldhu Cove for the afternoon. It has turned out to be a beautiful summer day once more, There were one or two people swimming, or paddle boarding, plus small children with their parents and little beach igloo tents dotted around.
Plenty of digging trenches in the sand and paddling in the small stream which runs down the middle of the cove.
Timeless occupations.
Where time stands still for a little while.
Once back for tea we caught some of the D-Day coverage but didn’t watch it all.
I’ve included a link to a Blip entry I made last September when we went to Normandy where I finally saw the beach where my dad landed with his regiment, It was so moving for me.
War is abhorrent.

We will not be watching the commemorations tomorrow but remembering what mine and Stephen’s dads suffered, silently thinking of those who never made it home, and thankful that our dads lived to return.
