The Indoor/Outdoor café…..

……yesterday at Trebah Gardens.
I haven’t actually taken any photos today, as I’ve had no energy.
Probably did a bit too much yesterday when my food consumption isn’t back to normal. Used up the depleted stocks!
We did, however, stop on our way back at the lovely village of Constantine, which isn’t far from Trebah It is where my father’s maternal grandmother was born in the 1800’s and lived there until she met her husband, John Opie, who was a tin miner from Wendron, not far from Redruth.
She was called Ellen Milford and my dad had her surname for his second name. Leslie Milford Smith.
I always have such a sense of connection to the Lizard and nearest surrounding areas because of it.
John Opie at some point went into the Church Army and then moved his growing family and wife around the country serving in various churches.
The eventually settled at St Mary’s Parish Church, Rawtenstall, along with 4 of their 6 children, where dad’s mum, Caroline Opie, caught the eye of a young engineer called Fred Smith. The rest as you say, is history. (The other two settled in Bootle and Barrow in Furness).
PS I believe there is a debate somewhere this evening………! Yawn!
And summer has disappeared again for now…..
