Wernigerode is a beautiful old town situated on the foothills of the Harz Mountain. It is called the colourful town of Harz - and has many grand streets and buildings.

In the town square this is the Rathaus - Town Hall - which dominates the market place and started out in life as a theatre in 1277.

Wernigerode Castle dominates the skyline was first built in 12th Century.
