Barn Owl Chicks
This morning I went over to Sculthorpe Moor. I went into the first hide to see if I could see the barn owl returning with food for the chicks, but instead I saw the two wardens holding the chicks which had been rung and were about to be returned to the nest box after having their photos taken. I managed to get this photo, I was quite far away. There was a photographer at the 'bus shelter' where the nest is, but I couldn't see a photo posted on their website. I did find a live web cam link (added below), but not sure it's from this particular nest box. Evidently 4 in 5 barn owl pairs now use nest boxes provided. It was back to being a dull day and there was not much around otherwise, although I did get a couple of photos of the marsh harrier in the distance hunting for food for its chicks which I could hear calling. I've included a collage as an extra and added a photo of one of the blue tit chicks on the bird feeder in my garden - they know to go there now, but still need the parents to come and feed them. More tennis watching this afternoon.
