Grumpy Old Man

Sun day, Monday

What an amazing day! Blue sky and sunshine from start to finish, though it's a long way from finishing yet. We haven't done a lot, being clogged up to the eyeballs with colds and coughs, but we've sat outside for a large part of the day and I've read almost a complete book - I shall finish the last couple of chapters in bed probably.

In the morning we sat at the drive end of the house before the sun moves round. My Blip today is the view we look at - trees, hills and my neighbour's roof. His bungalow is on the road some 40ft below us. The odd car tootles by from time to time, the breeze sighs gently in the tree tops and the two cats lie down beside us, sometimes moving in to the shade for a while.

After lunch we moved to the other end of the house as the sun has come round in that time. We can hear a little more from that end - occasional voices from McCaig's Tower,  hooters and occasional tannoy messages from the ferries, the odd helicopter. But generally it's quiet and peaceful. We're very lucky to live here - unless it's wet and windy, of course!

Quote of the Day: ' 'There's no shame in enjoying the quiet life.' - Daniel Radcliffe.
