We went over to Bags' this morning for a cuppa.
It was payment for me taking the angle grinder over so that the SIL could remove the grill over the drainage channel in front of the garage. Whoever had installed it had bolted it down ... using bolts which had rusted solid. Once removed the channel was found to be solid with soil and roots.

I caught the Magpie sitting almost right at the entrance to the birdbox this afternoon. It wasn't there for long I can tell you. However, apart from the Bluetit (who had been sitting above and behind the Magpie) immediately flying down to next to the entrance for a few seconds (as if listening) and then flew off. I haven't seen any life at the box since and fear the worst.
